According to the Pew Research Center, roughly 84 percent of the world's population identify with a religious group. This new series MAJOR WORLD RELIGIONS covers six of the largest religions: Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, and Judaism. Approximately 5.2 billion people follow one of these religious groups, with Pew estimating that there are 2.2 billion Christians, 1.6 billion Muslims, 1 billion Hindus, 376 million Buddhists, 23 million Sikhs, and 14 million Jews living in the world today. Written in consultation with religious scholars, each book describes the important beliefs of each religion, along with information about its history, practices, and rituals. A variety of useful features supplement the texts, including glossary terms, sources for further information, links to educational videos, ideas for projects and reports, and a detailed index.
